What worked
My son was largely non verbal when we started using this. We keep the iPad with us most of the day—at home, in the car, even at the supermarket. My son uses it to tap pictures that speak out loud. At breakfast he’ll press “I want” → “toast” → “more,” which has reduced so much frustration. It’s become part of our routine rather than something we “sit down and practice.” Its made a pretty big difference for us day to day and has really helped us to understand his needs with some gains in his speech slowly starting to come through.

What worked
Great symbol-based communication system with customizable vocabulary. Our child was able to pick it up pretty quick and it only took a couple of weeks and it helped him to form simple sentences. He had really limited speech to begin with so this was a bit of a turning point.
